Two styles collide

A perfect example of two styles colliding to form a cake of beauty. Delicate white beads piped on to a background of hand coloured dove grey icing and hundreds of hand cut petals folded and formed on to the cake that sit around the next like they were always meant to be there.

A lot of the decorations that we make have to be produced in advance and then stored until they are set enough to sit proud on the surface of the cake but this design benefitted from the extra time taken to make them directly on to the cake. We could then manipulate the icing to perfectly form and set around the next petal.

I love the way the two styles work so very well together, in my favourite way of having one thing that is the same to tie everything together, in this case it's the colour. That solid white, broken only by the shadows that form around the petals and beading, runs through the cake like a pillar with the last finishing touch of the double satin bridal white ribbon fastened around the base boards and the tiers of dove grey.
I loved every second of making this cake and what a treat that the venue set off the cake in such a stunning way- I have always loved that decadent silver cake stand which, even though its a different shape, tends to set off cakes in such a wonderful way.
